Legacy - 1997January 11 - March 30Messages - Mary Fisher An exhibition of recent works by mother, AIDS activist, and HIV-positive artist, Mary Fisher. Ms. Fisher served as an assistant to President Ford from 1974 to 1976. Since discovering she was HIV - positive in 1991, Mary Fisher has become an outspoken advocate on behalf of AIDS sufferers, addressing the 1992 Republican National Convention, founding the Family AIDS Network, Inc., and writing several books, including her 1996 autobiography, My Name is Mary. Gardens, plant collecting, and botany were studied in school and a few daring women received doctorates in Botany. Some of their work is featured in this exhibit.
