Pat Smith

A native Hoosier, Pat Smith has taught school and, most recently, served as General Counsel for Grand Valley State University (GVSU), where was employed for 25 years. She was only the second lawyer to be hired at GVSU and the first female general counsel. While at GVSU she also served as an Adjunct Professor in the College of Education student leadership program. Smith was honored by the GVSU Women’s Commission with its Lifetime Achievement award. Over the years she has served as a mentor to many women at GVSU, both students and staff. Smith graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee, and received her JD from Marquette Law School in Wisconsin, where she was on law review.
